Menopause and peri-menopause can be a difficult time for some women and a lack of appropriate management can leave women feeling hopeless about the impact on their lives. Hot flushes, mood swings, joint pains, poor sleep, weigh gain and low libido can have significant ramifications on home and work lives.

A Menopause Specialist is a healthcare professional who has additional knowledge and skills, assessing and treating women with complex needs such as multiple treatment failures, POI, complex medical problems, high risk cancer genes or hormone dependant cancer. They can also help a women to find the most effective treatments to manage the symptoms of peri-menopause and improve their health and wellbeing.

Our Menopause Specialist, Dr Nederstrom is member of the British Menopause Society and is happy to advise on both medical and natural alternatives to HRT. Dr Nederstrom follows national guidelines to explore the most effective treatments and works with the patient to develop a tailored care plan to effectively manage the symptoms of menopause with HRT and non-hormonal alternatives.

Dr Glenys Quartey-Irwin

Advanced Menopause Specialists & GPwSI Women's Health

Dr. Quartey-Irwin is GP with a special interest in Community Gynaecology (GPwSI) and an Advanced Menopause Specialist accredited by both the British Menopause Society and the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health. She also holds diplomas for the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG) and the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH). 

After obtaining her Medical Degree (MBBS) in 2012 from King’s College London, she completed her junior doctor training at Hinchingbrooke and Papworth Hospitals followed by GP specialty training in Cambridge in 2018. 

She then completed a Post-CCT Fellowship in Community Gynaecology at Cambridge University Hospital and during this time, she obtained further knowledge, skills and competencies to develop her specialisms in Community Gynaecology and Menopause.

Dr Quartey-Irwin leads a specialist menopause clinic called EveryWoman Health, which provides evidence-based, holistic and individualised menopause care as well as comprehensive breast health checks and private cervical screening.

Can I access this service?

Any patient who believes they are experiencing symptoms of menopause can access this service.

Some patients with particularly complex needs, may be referred on to a more appropriate service.

The service is strictly for menopause and not a general hormone therapy service, therefore if you are not experiencing menopause, please consult your GP for the most appropriate referral.
